Supermiata Tecna Coilovers for Mazda MX-5 NA NB
Supermiata’s Tecna coilovers were designed from scratch to provide the best riding coilover suspension in this price bracket. With the ability to lower the car, Tecnas work great for Mazda MX-5s that are used as daily drivers or those which are dual duty and see some track work. Supermiata have created the Tecna to fill the gap between street and full-race setups, allowing you to carve up the back-roads and compete in autocross/solos/tests then drive back home again.
By opting for a one-piece body with ride height being adjusted via single perch Supermiata have been able to engineer a damper that is specific to the NA NB application. This means the damper body can be longer which allows for a greater stroke to soak up larger bumps. Larger socks also contain more fluid to allow the damper to do more work before it becomes overheated. Supermiata’s Tecna coilovers are designed to not require servicing and carry a 10 year limited warranty, making them possibly the best coilover available for the street.
Tecna coilovers are available with a choice of spring rates, allowing you to customise the to your specific situation. For strict daily drivers Supermiata recommend the 6/4kg/mm spring rate which greatly improves handling without compromising on ride quality. For dual duty cars that see light track or other mild competition use the 9/6kg/mm option increases response and stability, allowing you to make the most of sticker semi-slick tyres such as the Nankang NS-2R.
Supermiata have engineered Tecna coilovers to work best with a pinch weld height—measured from the bottom of the pinch weld to the ground—between 120mm and 150mm. The rear should be approximately 3mm higher than the front for the best handling balance. Daily driven cars are recommended to be set up at around 135mm. Complimenting the sport 9/6kg/mm spring rate with a 24mm front OEM rear anti-roll bar will further improve the handling feel.
