An uprated clutch is always a good idea for boosted cars, they have holding power due to the higher clamping loads and better friction materials. We offer anything from a stage 4 puck clutch, which is great for drifters, to an OEM replacement organic clutch for daily driving. If you’re looking for a happy middle, take a look at the BOFI Racing clutch kit. We’ve developed this to hold all the power of a boosted car without sacrificing pedal feel. Anytime you change the clutch we’d recommend swapping the flywheel. This is especially true for 1.6 engines as most aftermarket clutches will have a larger diameter friction plate which may eclipse the OEM flywheel. An aftermarket flywheel will allow a larger diameter of the clutch to be fully utilised and allow for more torque to be sent to the wheels.Whether plate type or helical, fitting a limited-slip differential to your Mazda MX-5 has a dramatic effect on its cornering and handling capabilities. If you’re tracking the car, a plate type diff will ensure maximum adjustability and allow the entire rear axle to lock under load. For fast road and light track use, a helical diff will be perfect. This uses torque biasing to bias the engine torque to the slower wheel, ensuring you don’t get “one tyre fire”. Changing the shift boots on an MX-5 is a must, if no one has changed them already they may be split and allowing heat and noise to enter the cabin. Changing these will considerably quieten down the road noise and stop heat from the exhaust entering the cabin. We also stock everything you need to service and maintain your transmission assembly, from differential seals to clutch slave cylinders, you’ll find everything you need at BOFI Racing.
