The Eight Nine Stage 2.5 split friction clutch takes over 30 years of experience in manufacturing performance clutches and distils it into the ultimate kit for cars making up to 325hp. This clutch is designed to hold plenty of power without sacrificing pedal feel. The innovative split friction drive plate features an organic face that allows the clutch to slip slightly against the flywheel during the initial engagement, ensuring stop-start traffic is easy to navigate. On the reverse, five ceramic pads bite into the pressure plate, offering excellent torque-holding power.
The pivot point on the diaphragm on the pressure plate has been moved compared to OEM, offering significantly more clamping force whilst minimising the increase in force required to operate the clutch. Four radial grooves machined into the pressure plate increase the load applied by the pressure plate by 8%, resulting in a relatively light, well-mannered clutch that reliably holds a serious amount of power.
Hand-built in the UK, the Eight Nine clutch features a 12-month warranty and can be rebuilt or individual parts replaced as required. When installing the clutch, the flywheel must either be skimmed or replaced with a brand-new unit. For best results, give the car 300 miles of town driving before taking it to a dyno or applying full load. This clutch will slip if it has not been bedded in properly when running close to the torque limit.
