Stage 1.25 300HP Forged Engine Package for Mazda MX-5 NA NB
This stage 1.25 forged engine package contains the bare essentials you need to install forged connecting rods in your B6 or BP. Whether you have a 1989 1.6 or a 2005 1.8, we’ve compiled all the parts within this kit that will support up to 280HP. We’ve stripped out any parts that aren’t absolutely necessary to strip the kit back to the minimum parts you can get away with installing.
To get the kit down to its bare components, you will need to leave the crank in place. Doing so means main bearings, thrust washers and piston rings can be omitted. Piston rings will need to be reused, so it is extremely important they are kept in order when the pistons are removed from the engine and installed back into the bore from which they came. We strongly recommend gapping the piston rings at the same time to prevent ringland failure further down the line.
These refreshed kits contain the gaskets required for a bare-bones engine block build. The Stage 1.25 package uses genuine head gaskets and sump seals for all model years. The 1.8s use an MLS head gasket, whilst the 1.6 uses a composite head gasket. We’ve included a genuine oil pick-up gasket and new cylinder head locating dowels too to complete the kit.

Please note this kit is not suitable for Mazda MX-5 NB 98-05 1.6s because they use press fit gudgeon pins, meaning the pistons cannot be reused
