SPS Motorsport Front Air Duct for Mazda MX-5 NA
SPS’s air ducts are designed to maximise cooling capacity by funnelling all the available airflow into the radiator and intercooler. These have been thoroughly designed and tested by SPS Motorsport, from initial 3D scanning to final prototyping, these ducts have been designed from the ground up with performance in mind.
Injection Moulded using ABS plastic, the 2 piece air ducts can be easily adapted to your cars current setup. The lower piece replaces the original air dam and uses the factory mounting points to bolt in. The upper part curves upwards to seal against the top of the radiator to maximise the cooling surface area.
In testing, SPS found this reduced water temperature by up to 25 ° C and intake air temperature (for turbo and supercharger applications) by up to 15 ° C. The Duct has been extensively tested in both road and motorsport applications and has been through several iterations in order to reach its current design.
Cutouts for intercooler piping can be created by simply popping out the pre-cut areas and routing your piping through these. For naturally aspirated applications, these can be left in to maximise airflow or can be turned into brake cooling ducts by plumbing piping towards your discs.
