Paco Motorsports have developed the ultimate suspension kit for Mazda MX-5s that take part in rallycross, targa rallies, stage rallies, or any other event that requires making rapid progress over rough, unpredictable terrain. The Rallycross coilover kit is designed to have extreme versatility for both on and off-road driving. Paco have been through many iterations of shock design, mountings, spring rates, valving and more before settling on the setup you see here.

The usual aftermarket coilovers fall short of the specifications that rallycross demands. Aftermarket coilovers are normally designed to lower the car, thereby shortening the shock and reducing the volume of damping oil. Spring rates are then increased to help control body roll and make the handling feel faster and more precise.

These features are at odds with the requirements of rallycross coilovers which need a large volume of shock oil to reduce overheating and retain damping ability when the going gets rough. Spring rates are softer and progressive to increase wheel travel, allowing massive bumps and ruts to be soaked up without unsettling the ride. These features combined with a wide range of adjustability for ride height and rebound mean these coilovers can handle anything you can throw at them.

Features

  • Max wheel travel as allowed by the factory suspension
  • 8.5in total wheel travel with 26in wheels
  • Inverted rear shock for max damper travel
  • Optimised progressive spring rates
  • Adjustable ride height from +1in to +4in
Fitting notes

Will front camber adjustments be limited to around zero camber to +1 degree camber at higher ride heights? Extended front lower ball joints add up to 3 degrees of negative camber to allow more ideal alignment.? Similarly, care needs to be taken in the rear when using high ride heights and too much negative camber because of the extreme angle of the CV joint at full droop.? Factory CV joints have been known to break with extreme use.? Stronger axles with beefier CVs and more range of motion are available.

Paco Moto Upper Rear control arms are recommended on ALL lifted Miatas for proper camber setup and max CV axle angle limits. Furthermore, they also provide clearance with certain wheel/tyre combinations and more ideal wheel alignment.? Finally, the rear swaybar requires extended links to allow full-wheel travel, also offered separately.

Making a warranty claim

Proof of purchase receipt showing the date of purchase, proof of mileage at installation, proof of current mileage and invoice of the work undertaken by an independent experienced professional mechanic must be supplied along with the returned products for a warranty claim to be considered. If your vehicle needs to be used whilst your warranty claim is considered replacement parts from the same manufacturer should be purchased through BOFI Racing.
