The first thing you’ll want to look at is a Turbo Manifold. This replaces the stock manifold and allows the exhaust gases to be routed towards the turbo. We supply both T25 and TD04 manifolds and downpipes. After this, you’ll be deciding on your turbo. We stock a variety of turbos all with a different price/power ratios. A bigger turbo will make more power but will take a much larger amount of time to reach peak power. Whereas a smaller turbo may make less peak power but will reach the power faster. This is something to bear in mind and will depend on what you’re using the car for. To regulate the intake pressure in your turbo MX-5 you’ll be looking at blow off valves and wastegates. Blow-off valves release the pressure built up in the intake when you let off the throttle or change gear. These are responsible for the characteristic turbo noises we all know and love. Wastegates act like a pressure regulation value, regulating the amount of pressure in the turbo system. A regular wastegate will have a pressure sensitive spring that will open when its pressure limit is reached. In order to change the amount of pressure you can store, you’ll need to either swap the spring or fit a boost controller. Boost controllers can adjust the wastegate and allow you to change the amount of pressure the system can hold. With these, you can create custom maps that can alter the amount of boost the wastegate can hold and that can change the amount of boost depending on your gear, throttle position and speed. Alongside all of these, we also stock plenty of adaptors, ancillaries and accessories to set up and maintain your Turbo MX-5.
