MX5 / Miata Workshop Manuals Including all Torque Settings
Here are copies of the original workshop manuals for each variant of the MX5 from 89-05.
These manuals contain information and instructions on all of the core maintenance items for the 1.6, 1.8 and 1.8VVT engines in the NA, NB and NBFL chassis, you can find torque specifications for all drivetrain and engine bolts in these.
Included are 4 documents, 1991 for the 1.6, 1996 for the 1.8, a specific 99-00 for the bp4w 1.8 and 01-05 for the vvt engine – every tolerance and clearance for each assembly is listed within.

Does anyone know if there’s any PDF or workshop material data out for the Miata’s Torsen Type 1 differentials?
I’m planning on a full rebuild of my 4.1 torsen But I can’t find torque specs, clearences, preload information online to blueprint it the proper way.
Thanks
Hi is the 1991 engine workshops manual ok to use for 1989 1.6 manual gearbox on a G plate Vin 102606?
Many thanks
Hi Adrian, you can use most of the 1991 manuals, but be careful with torque specs in the engine manuals. Your VIN number would indicate that you have a ‘short nose crank’ engine with different bolt sizes and therefore different torque specs etc. The 91+ manuals are usually aimed at the ‘long nose’ variant of the engine.
