Fast cars need good brakes. We have a wide range of products to make your Mazda MX-5 stop harder and faster. Read More...
Making big power is only part of the story when it comes to building quick MX-5s. From brake pads and brake discs to braided lines and brake fluid, we have lots of parts to make your car stop as well as it goes.
To improve how well your Mazda MX-5 can stop, the first step is to change to a set of performance brake pads. Different compounds work better at different temperatures and provide a range of initial bite and modulation characteristics. High-quality brake discs cope better with more abrasive compounds and are more resistant to warping and scoring, extending their service life.
Brake feel can be greatly improved with a couple of simple modifications. Braided brake lines minimise swelling and expansion under pressure, helping the pedal feel more responsive. Brake stoppers prevent firewall flex by bracing the master cylinder, making the pedal feel firmer. Bias valves adjust the amount of pressure distributed to the front and rear brakes, reducing the tendancy to lock up under hard braking.
Brake fluid aborbs heat from the caliper under hard braking. When the fluid becomes too hot it begins to boil, creating air bubbles in the brake lines and making the pedal feel soft. Performance brake fluids feature a significantly higher boiling point, meaning brakes inspire confidence for much longer than when using old brake fluid.
If OEM sized performance pads and discs aren’t enough, aftermarket big brake kits add larger discs, pads, and multi-piston calipers to your Mazda MX-5. More pistons in the caliper and more friction material in contact with the disc increases the stopping power. With a bigger brake disc to shed heat, you can stay out lap after lap without causing the brakes to fade.
